In an unbelievable show of narcissism President Trump accepted the Nobel Peace Prize from Venezuelan Opposition Leader Maria Corina Machado.
President Trump said “”Maria presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you Maria!”
Earlier, while the meeting with Trump was ongoing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president had been looking forward to meeting Machado, but that he stood by his “realistic” assessment that she did not currently have the support needed to lead the country in the short term. But he would still take her prize.
Trump has, in the past, had praises for Delcy Rodriguez, the acting president of Venezuela. This follows Trumps past history of misjudging people when hiring and endorsing .
This is the first time a Nobel laureate has given his or her medal away since 1943 when Nobel Literature laureate Knut Hamsun gave his medal to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.
